Today the Marsden Point Oil Refinery had an open day... it's their 50 year celebration so they opened up the gates so that the public could come in and see what it's all about. They also made it a fun family day with loads of bouncy castles and all that jazz. We started out with a tour of the site and ... well, should I be embarrassed at how interested I was in it all? I've driven past that refinery for 38 of those 50 years and I've never once been in there. I've seen the smoke stacks as we've come over the crest of the Brynderwyn hills about 40kms away and often wondered what it's like there. Now I know. I don't think my 16 year old cousin was quite so interested.
